CII NATIONAL HR CONCLAVE 2017: Co-creating HR Next

The business world of today is grappling with numerous challenges on multiple fronts namely Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal and Social. Uncertainty is a commonplace and the next big disruption can hit any moment from any anywhere. The business world has embraced some interesting business models, a changing talent landscape, improved channels of communication and the quintessential digital revolution, all of which has forced organizations to unlearn the legacy systems and become future ready and equipped to radically evolve to meet the changing needs.
The challenges faced by the HR function is also manifold. The immediate challenge is to create an agile HR processes within the overall strategic plan of the organization. Also there is a gradual shift in the role from “building an organizational structure” to actively “build organizational ecosystems and networks” that facilitate newer ways of working, in alignment with the business needs of the organization. On the talent front, the open talent economy is reshaping the future workforce, driving many organizations to reconsider how they design jobs, organize work, and plan for future growth. The employee expectation has changed considerably and employees today expect a productive, engaging, enjoyable work environment. The multi-generational workplace balance is also an emerging challenge. On the digitization front, the use of various HR analytics is still an operational challenge and how to use predictive capabilities still remains largely hazy.
In this context the demand on HR is increasing phenomenally with the expectation of it to step out of isolation and metamorphose itself into a Strategic Business Value Creation Partner, which will support colleagues from C-suite to drive business effectively and sustainably. A synergistic partnership between Businesses and HR is the need of the day and HR of today and tomorrow need to be a ‘co-created’ process and cannot remain compartmentalized. This will ensure an enabling environment and help in fostering effective solutions to propel businesses to the next orbit of success.
